No Line Dancing
For some reason, I just broke out in singing "Achy Breaky Heart" with a couple of co-workers...That falls under the category of "You Know You're Losing It When..." Seriously, though today has been a really productive day...minus a couple of toy gun wars ... We have some new part time staff that are really helping to pick up the slack.
The sky is beautifully blue outside. I think this calls for a walk after work! Sleeping last night was amazing...it was cool and the fans in my room made it so comfy. That of course made waking up torture, but oh well.

Changes Come
Today is Kurt's last day. It's really really sad. We are a family here in the office and he is one of the core staff and one of my best friends. He will truly be missed. Thankfully, he will be coming back to the area and hopefully remain a part of Purple Door and the festivals.
The one consolation in the sadness of Kurt leaving is that Dan Meyer is our new Promotions Director and he is not only capable, he is a great guy with a beautiful family and I enjoy working with him.
I'm still trying to block out the fact that Karen, my best friend, will be leaving after her wedding. I am trying to just focus on the wedding and the excitement surrounding that. Having co-workers who are your family has it's pro's and con's.
I recently loaded up on a bunch of CD's. At Purple Door I got Denison Witmers "Philadelphia Songs" and "Are You A Dreamer" along with an Are You a Dreamer tshirt. I also bought Sufjan Stevens "A Sun Came" and "Come on Feel the: Illinois!". I also made a recent BMG order including Phish: A Picture of Nectar, Counting Crows"This Desert Life", Five for Fighting"This American Town", Norah Jones"Feels Like Home" and Coldplay "A Rush of Blood to the Head". I had a buy one get 3 free deal plus another free cd so I saved a ton of money.
Purple Door was great...ok, ok I didn't really witness much of the actual festival. I saw one song of Family Force Five and one song of Denison. I walked through the gallery, which I was impressed with this year. I had a couple of poems in "Hinge". (the same ones that I had had posted at infuzemag.com). For me, Purple Door is like a family reunion, except for the fact that I only get to see most of my friends for a brief moment in between working. It was still great to see everyone, though...and the festival went extremely well...ALL THE BANDS ACTUALLY GOT TO PLAY.

Getting Caught Up
It's Purple Door week already. Last night was the first night in a while that I took a few moments out to write in my journal, read and reflect. The summer has had it's way with me. I've had some really great experiences...all have also been emotional because of all the changes going on in my life and the lives of my friends. Right now I'm in the space between wanting the Fall to be here and wanting to relish every moment before then. It will be good to "settle down" a bit. Although, I don't think I ever REALLY do.
This week is Purple Door festival. Then it's full speed ahead to Karen's wedding September 10th. The following week Ann and I go on the Music Boat Cruise and then I go home to Vt the first week in October. When I come home from Vt, I have the u2 concert on the 16th. I'm trying to take some deep breaths between events. Creation West was so amazing. The flight in was spectacular, getting to see Seattle, the drive to The Gorge, and then getting to work at the festival...I loved it all. It was hot and exhausting, though. On the way home, one of our flights were cancelled, so we ended up having to rent cars to drive from DC home after flying a red eye. That was frustrating...but it all worked out. Then that same day, I moved into my new apartment.
Did I mention I love my new apartment, yet? It's great. I love the location...I can walk just about anywhere I want to go. I worked at Lancaster Fest on Saturday and it was a mere few blocks away. After being out in the scorching heat, I went to Pho Thon Thuy with Phil for dinner. He had been recommending it to me forever, and now that I live close by...I finally took him up on it. WOW. I may become a regular there. I can't wait to bring all my friends.
Things are working out fabulously with my new roommate. We're both on the go, so we don't get to spend a ton of time together, but when we do, it's great. We have some of the same tastes, although I am a little sloppier than her. I am really trying to keep that in check. : ) The one thing I miss from the complex is central air. I have been melting into a puddle with all this ridiculous heat we've been having.
Health stuff has been a little weird. Everything is still overall a huge improvement. I have just had to take some extra measures to make my body cooperate. With all the traveling and running I've been doing, I have to be careful not to jeapordize that.
Thats the lump summary. Hopefully I'll be able to start writing more regularly again. To everyone I haven't seen in a while...I'm looking forward to catching up to you soon.

Coming Soon
Hi Blog reading friends. Just a quick post to let you know I'm not dead. I am still jet lagged and at the same time unpacking boxes. Soon I'll try to give some more detailed thoughts about it all. I'm off to buy miscellaneous stuff for the new apartment.
