Rabbit Proof Fence
I had a free rental for a Blockbuster non-new release so last night I rented a movie. I can't remember who had mentioned the movie "Rabbit Proof Fence" to me, but I'm glad they did and that I saw it as I was sifting through all the movies on the shelf. Rabbit Proof Fence was a movie about 3 aboriginal girls who are forcibly taken from their parents to be trained and become servants and become integrated because they were mixed race. They escape from this training camp place and trek across the outback in search of home. It starts out with subtitles, but they are only used in the first part of the movie. The DVD had a really great documentary of the making of the movie and how they cast the 3 girls. While watching the movie, it seemed like they were the actual real people...I thought they were great little actresses. I would highly recommend it. I also rented Master and Commander which I didn't watch yet, but I have it for a week. I'm not a big Russel Crowe fan, but everyone who has seen it that I have spoken with have recommended it.
I realized it has been a long time since I rented any movies. I used to rent quite a few. I'm glad I am busier these days, though. I like to watch movies, but I'd rather be doing something a little more active or social with friends. Then, it's a real treat to have an evening to just hang out on the couch and watch a good movie.

Rabbit Proof Fence is, in a word, amazing! The documentary was equally intriguing, especially when they showed them filming the scene when the three girls were first taken away. Very moving indeed. And a true story to boot!
I've recommended the movie to a few people, but I think the title scares them away.
