God Box

The May 10th quote from my desk calendar was really great, "God guides us, despite our uncertainties and our vagueness, even through our failings and mistakes...He leads us step by step, from event to event. Only afterwards, as we look back over the way we have come...do we experience the feeling of having been led without knowing it, the feeling that God has mysteriously guided us." -Paul Tournier

Last night was a really awesome night at my small group. There were only a few of us there, which I knew wasn't by accident. Kristen led...and she's such a quiet person, but did a wonderful job preparing the discussion and allowing it to go where it needed to go without getting off track. One thing we did was write some personal stuff down and put it in a "God Box"...symbolic of giving these things up to God....both good things and bad...good desires and idols...with the idea that we would NOT try to take them back until He is giving them to us.

Sometimes it is so hard to put that trust in Him, even though when I look back I see that He always brings things about to my best interest. So, why don't I just give Him control to begin with rather than trying to make things happen the way I think they should go? It's a fine line between letting Him be in control and knowing when He is saying go for it, it's for you, it's time.
