Board Game Addicts
So, ok. I have been playing a lot of board games lately. Ever since my friend Brian got a bunch of us to meet at Lititz Library way back in October last year, (I think it was,) I have been learning more and more new games with my friends, meeting new people and having a blast. On Saturday I went to this game day organized by Jim from Berks County. Karen and I drove all the way out there after our fun in the sun at Sertoma... There were many games to be played and that was very cool. At first everyone was engrossed in games, so we taught ourselves how to play Balloon Cup...Karen beat me. Then we joined Lyle and some guys we didn't know to play a bunch of games
It was different playing with strangers. We learned some new games, which was cool, taught them some games and found out differing ways people interpret rules, etc in the games we already know. The new guys we played with most of the evening were nice overall, a little intense, and one of them could be compared to a parrot in some ways...It made for amusing conversation for me and Karen on the way home when trying to keep awake.
I came to the realization that I have gotten into this hobby in order to spend time with friends doing something fun but for some people it's all about the games. I am more people oriented than task oriented, not a big competitor, etc. etc. (although I'll admit it does feel good when i win)
Karen and I talked about how infrequently we spend a lot of time with people who are probably not Christians. With our jobs, church activities, etc most of our circles include others of like faith. I like the fact that this hobby could lead to opportunities in new friendships and maybe open someones world up to Jesus.
